Josh Goo loves to share his passion for music through energetic performances, engaging content, and thoughtful teaching. He regularly performs world premieres and other contemporary classical music with the Denver based Nebula Ensemble as their Clarinetist and Artistic Director. He is Principal Clarinetist of The Pocket Philharmonic, Pueblo Municipal Band, and Bass Clarinetist of the Pueblo Symphony Orchestra.
After learning so much from his incredible teachers like Steve Cohen, Michael Rusinek, Dr. Jeremy Reynolds, and Charles Neidich, while getting his Masters from Northwestern University, Bachelors from the University of Denver, and attending festivals such as the Aspen Summer Music Festival and Domaine Forget, he is honored to be able to pass that knowledge on to others in his roles as the Clarinet Instructor at Colorado State University Pueblo, Co-Chair of the International Clarinet Association's Enthusiasts Committee, and the Creator of QuickStart Clarinet: an online platform including weekly video content, online courses and memberships, as well as traditional private lessons. In all of his teaching he aims to inspire a deeper understanding of the clarinet and music, so that we can find more joy, share our music more confidently, and make the world more beautiful!
Michael Lyons is a music teacher and has taught music in the Pueblo area for five years teaching a variety of grade levels. Born in Colorado Springs, Michael attended Colorado State University Pueblo from 2016 - 2020 where he earned his bachelors in music education. Michael is currently the music and drama teacher at Liberty Point International teaching band, choir, and theater classes. Michael has played in the community band and jazz band since Fall of 2022 and recently took on the role as an assistant director of the Pueblo West Community Band in Fall of 2025. “It’s been a great experience getting to both play and conduct with a group of wonderful musicians these past few years. It’s really helped me grow as a musician and director here with the band!”
Outside of music, Michael has many interests in various sports like: ultimate frisbee, snowboarding, and motorsports. He also likes to edit and create videos he’s uploaded to his YouTube channel.
Mike is enthusiastic about this opportunity to work with the Pueblo West Community Jazz Band this year! Mike studied music for a few years at San Diego State University, but switched career plans, pursuing other activities. Never losing interest in music performance, he played in a variety of groups, including symphonies, brass choirs, quintets, trios, jazz bands, swing bands, jazz combos, even Mex-Tex bands!
Mike returned to academics at New Mexico State University, earning a B.A. in Marketing and an MBA. He reasoned he could go to school for the rest of his life if he earned a Ph.D., and he did so in the field of Strategic Management at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Mike is currently a Professor of Management and Director of the Healy Center for Entrepreneurship and Economic Development at CSU Pueblo.
Recently, he has played trumpet in several local groups, including St. Paul Catholic Church Youth Praise Band, Christ the King Catholic Church Adult Ensemble, Canon City Chorale, Pueblo Children’s Chorale, performing Taps at the Riverwalk, the Pueblo Municipal Band and Jazz Band, and the Pueblo West Community Band and Jazz Band. He has resided in Pueblo West since 2000 with his bride, Kay, and his daughter, Elizabeth. His son, Greg, lives in Denver.
